Long days of adventuring require long hours of power. When sailing miles at sea, the livelihoods mainly depend on the energy system. Having reliable deep cycle power to meet the extensive demands is crucial. Our customer chose the lightweight, fast charging, and maintenance-free Polinovel lithium battery for the catamaran sailboat.
Challenges
The energy system on our customer’s 30’electric drive sailboat involves a 1200-watt solar panel array, two 300-watt wind turbines, one 3000-watt hybrid charger inverter, and two charger controllers.
The lithium-ion battery must work well with solar and wind power generating systems while providing enough power for two 14HP motors and onboard appliances. In addition, letting the system automatically deal with anything encountered so that customers can rest easy to enjoy the convenience of lithium batteries is also the point we pay attention to when thinking about battery solutions.
Results
After learning the customer’s requirements on lithium battery subject to the actual sailing experience, we designed two 48V 200Ah lithium iron phosphate battery packs. Both are charged by solar panels and wind turbines and equipped with 160A BMS respectively to ensure the boat’s sailing speed and meet the daily electricity demand.
